HAWKS SET TO HOST No.7 MOUNTAINEERS

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks (5-1, 3rd West) begin their two-match homestand Thursday evening when the CCAA's seventh ranked program, the Mohawk Mountaineers (6-1, 2nd West), travel to the Humber Athletic Centre.

In their last match, the Hawks clashed with no. 4 Fanshawe (7-1, 1st West), falling in four sets and losing their first match of the season. Humber won the first set but was unable to pull off the win despite Clayton Blanchette (St. Catharines) tying a career-high with 28 points.

The Mountaineers are coming off a loss as well, after a straight set sweep from the Redeemer Royals (5-2, 4th West) that dropped Mohawk four spots in the CCAA rankings. Mohawk was held to season-low 0.197 attack percentage, finishing with 19 attack errors.

The Hawks own a 5-3 record against Mohawk over their last eight meetings; however the defending OCAA silver medal winners have won three straight matches against Humber.  In their last meeting, the Mountaineers came away with a straight set sweep of Humber behind Eric Girard's game-high 16 points.  Blanchette finished with a team-high 10 points in the loss.

Mohawk is led by fifth-year outside-hitter Tyler McLaughlin, who is averaging 3.9 points-per-set, good enough for tenth overall in the OCAA.  Hawks star Clayton Blanchette is averaging 5.9 points-per-set, the best mark in the league by over a full point.

All Hawks home games are free to the public and are streamed live online on the Hawks Sports Network.  If you are unable to attend Thursday's match against Mohawk, scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on the "WATCH NOW" link or click here.
