HAWKS ROLL OVER LA CITÉ

ETOBICOKE, Ont – The Hawks offence was clicking on all cylinders as the Humber men's volleyball team (10-8, 4th West) swept La Cité, 25-22, 25-17, 25-22, Saturday, in the OCAA crossover match at the Humber Athletic Centre.

The Hawks, which defeated the Coyotes (9-9, 5th East) in their first ever meeting, advance to the OCAA Championship tournament at Mohawk College on February 24.

As a team, Humber posted its fourth-best offensive match of the season hitting .474.  The Hawks registered eight blocks in the match, holding the Coyotes to a .240 clip. 

OCAA scoring champion Clayton Blanchette led all players with 20 kills on 39 swings with just two errors to hit .462.  The St. Catharines, Ont., native also tallied two service aces and two stuff blocks.

Setter Adam Kinoshita (Brampton) controlled the offence with 38 assists.  He also recorded one kill, two aces and five digs.  Second-year outside hitter Alex Gibbs (Calgary) finished with 12 kills, two service aces and two digs.

Michael Leblanc, the Coyotes top scorer, finished with a team-high 11 kills on a .264 hitting percentage.
