LUCK OF THE IRISH COMING TO HUMBER

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team has once again demonstrated their range in recruiting after head coach Wayne Wilkins announced the addition of setter/left side Oisin Hogan from Gonzaga High School in St. John's, Newfoundland.

"We are excited to have Oisin join the squad this fall," said Coach Wilkins, who will be at the helm for his 21st consecutive season.  "He comes from a strong background of winning at all levels and a desire to work hard and be the best. We hope this translates into solid leadership along with a work ethic that will be contagious. Humber is very eager to see what he can bring to an already strong core."

A native of Dublin, Ireland, Hogan will be making the 3,200 kilometer trip west to Humber College for the 2016-17 season, eager to help the Hawks win their fifth Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) medal in eight years.

"I chose Humber because the volleyball program has a reputation of excellence," said Hogan.  "I also selected Humber for the opportunities that accompany a well-established program."

A two-time high school most valuable player, Hogan has enrolled in the Business Administration program, a three-year diploma.  Along with the high demands in the classroom, Hogan has lofty goals for himself on the volleyball court as well.

"My energy, leadership and intensity are my major on court strengths," continued Hogan.  "I plan on using those strengths to make an immediate impact, while becoming a team leader for years to come."

Oisin Hogan is the second recruit announced by Coach Wilkins this offseason, joining Jake Blair (Mississauga) from St. Marcellinius High School.  Hogan and the rest of the Hawks will be back on the court in August when training camp begins.
