HAWKS LOOKS TO REBOUND BEFORE HOLIDAY BREAK

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks (5-2, 3rd place), winners of their first five games before dropping the last two, will look to rebound on Sunday at home as they host Windsor's St. Clair Saints (3-4, 5th place). The game, although still early, has huge play-off implications, as a win would vault the Hawks ahead of the second tier of teams in the division.

NOTE: St. Clair's game, yet to be played on Saturday at Sheridan, has not been taken into consideration

The Hawks actually took the first set over the defending champion Fanshawe Falcons in a road tilt last week, before falling back and dropping the next three. St. Clair comes into the game with a similar losing streak, losers of three straight after a 3-1 start to the season. Their last loss, a 3-2 upset at the hands of the Conestoga Condors, was one that got away from them.

The shining star in the league belongs to the home town Humber Hawks. Second year outside hitter Clayton Blanchette (St. Catherines) has found his stride, and he not only leads the Humber squad, but the entire league in scoring. His 5.62 points per set average is a point pps higher than his closest competitor. He also leads in kills per set average, with a mark of 5.17. Alex Gibbs has complimented Blanchette well, as he checks in with an average of 3.7 pps. The Saints boast a balanced attack, with six players scoring above a 2.0 pps pace.

Humber and the Saints have ping-ponged victories lately, but a win here would open the gap between the two teams, as the first half gets closer to end.

All Hawks home games are free to the public and are streamed live online on the Hawks Sports Network.  If you are unable to attend Sunday's match against St. Clair, scroll down to the bottom of the home page and click on the "WATCH NOW" link or click here.
