LAST TIME OUT: VS BOREAL

After a first set blowout (25-8) of the Vipers, the Hawks found that Boreal would not go down easily, forcing the Hawks all the way with set scores of 25-20 and 25-18. Clayton Blanchette led the Hawks on the day with 13 points (10 kills, 3 aces). Two Vipers accumulated five offensive points in the match.

SCOUTING BOREAL

  • The Vipers have struggled all season, and have not won a single set in 11 matches (0-33)
  • Christian Mian is the top offensive player for Boreal, and checks in with a very slim average of 1.6 points per set
  • As a team, the Vipers rank at, or near the bottom in every statistical category

LAST TIME OUT: VS CAMBRIAN

The Golden Shield's only set win, beyond that of the 3-0 win over Boreal, came against the Hawks early in the season. Humber won the match in four sets (25-16, 25-17, 24-26, 25-13). It was this match that saw Clayton Blanchette first burst out of the gate offensively, as he had 25 kills, 2 aces and 1 block, for a total of 28 points. Isaac Claveau led the Golden Shield on the day, with a solid 16 point performance.

SCOUTING CAMBRIAN

  • They are in the midst of a nine game losing streak
  • Isaac Claveau is the shining star on a team that is struggling to find additional offensive support. Claveau checks in with a very solid mark of 3.8 points per set
  • Cambrian's setters rank 20th in the league in assists
  • The teams hitting percentage is 19th, at a rate of .088

HAWK NOTES

  • Second year sensation Clayton Blanchette is having a career year, and checks in with a league best mark of 5.8 points per set. He just came of a 28 kill performance against Sheridan
  • Alex Gibbs has been a more than suitable accompaniment to Blanchette, scoring at a rate of 3.4 pps
  • Grizzled veteran setter Adam Kinoshita continues to be the "straw that stirs the drink" for the Hawks. His mark of 8.85 assists per set is the league's 6th best
  • As a team, the Hawks kills and aces per set rank among the league's elite
  • Humber is 13-0 all-time against Boreal, and 20-1 versus Cambrian

HAWKS HISTORY WATCH

  • Clayton Blanchette, should his numbers be similar the rest of the way, will move into the top five of many single season records. The majority of these are occupied by the great Terrel Bramwell, but Clayton is in a position to usurp legends Eugene Selva, Carter Walls, Tim Pennefather and Matthew Tim
  • With the win on Saturday, head coach Wayne Wilkins did not give up any ground to brother Chris in the chase to be Humber's all-time winningest coach
