UNDEFEATED HAWKS LOOK TO CONTINUE ROLL THURSDAY AT HOME

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team have gotten off to a terrific start, in spite of being a freshman laden team and some nagging injuries. At 3-0, they are only one of three undefeated teams in the entire OCAA. True, that their wins have come against the bottom three teams in the division, but good teams win the games they need to when searching for a post-season berth.

The men's match will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the women's game.

Sheridan checks in with a mark of three wins and two losses, with their three wins coming against the three teams the Hawks have knocked off. They suffered a 3-2 loss in a very tight game against the defending OCAA champions from Fanshawe. Their other black mark is a straight three set loss to Redeemer.

The Bruins are a mix of old and new, with seven freshman joining seven returnees. Veterans Christian Dela Cruz and Chris Adams lead the way offensively, with 3.2 and 2.7 points per set, respectively. First year middle Ross MacCauley has been solid by contributing an average of 2.0 pps.

Humber's second year outside hitter Clayton Blanchette has proven why he was one of the most sought after players last season by putting up impressive numbers early. Two players who played significant roles on past Hawk teams have returned this year and have made substantial contributions. Setter/outside hitter Adam Kinoshita and outside hitter Alex Gibbs have made the difference in all three wins.

Blanchette leads the hawks in almost every category, and checks in with an impressive mark of 5.5 points per set average. Gibbs is also on tear, with 3.4 pps.

The Hawks rode the wave of an overly exuberant fans on home court to knock off the Conestoga Condors in three straight sets, including coming from behind at 23-10 in the third and deciding set of the match. A similar show of affection from the Hawk Nation fan base would certainly pay dividends as the Hawks try to go 4-0.
