LAST TIME OUT VS CONESTOGA

Humber opened the season at home against Conestoga, and even though the Hawks swept Conestoga away in three straight sets, two of the tree sets were very close (25-18, 25-23, 26-24). Clayton Blanchette showed glimpses of what was to become a stellar season, as he led the Hawks in kills (14) and points (16) in the match. Wesley Lau was the standout for the Condors, as he reached double figures, with 10 points.

SCOUTING CONESTOGA

  • Conestoga has had an interesting season. They won their opener against a very good Redeemer team, and then went on to lose five in a row. They then took three wins, and followed that up with another five losses in a row. They are now on a run of two consecutive wins.
  • The Condors rank mid to low of the pack in almost every team statistic, but come in a respectable 10th in blocks per set (1.73)
  • They boast a very balanced attack, with the exception of Wesley Lau. Lau has eclipsed the 4.0 points per set mark, and this puts him among many of the top players in the league. Five other players check in with averages above the 2.1 pps level
  • Kelly McGuire is the main ball distributor, and he has solid numbers at that positon. He has recorded 414 assists and has an average of 8.12 assists per set

HAWK NOTES

  • Humber is 13-0 all-time versus Conestoga
  • The Hawks are still in a position to host a crossover play-off game, but the next two games will tell the tale
  • They are among the top five or six teams in many team categories, but the exception is a glaring one. They are 17th in block total (80) and blocks per set (1.33). This has been a telling point against the top teams in the league
  • Clayton Blanchette still leads the entire league in scoring , but is coming off a season low nine points against Fanshawe this past weekend. He is first in a number of individual categories, including kills (289), kills per set (4.98) aces (37) and aces per set (0.64)
  • Veteran setter Adam Kinoshita continues to amaze the league, and checks in with 476 assists

RECORD WATCH

  • Clayton Blanchette is within striking distance of the Hawks all-time single season scoring records, and should become a member of the 300/300 (points/kills) club over the last two games of the regular season. He currently sits at 342 points and 289 kills.
  • Head Coach Wayne Wilkins currently sits in second place of all-time Hawk coaching wins with 312 victories, and only trails the overall leader Mike Katz (318) by six.
