ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team (8-4, 3rd West) defeated the Cambrian Golden Shield (1-12, 9th West) in straight sets (25-14, 25-11, 25-11) on Sunday afternoon at the Humber Athletic Centre.

Humber extended their winning streak to three games and are now 9-1 in their last ten sets.  They move to 8-4 on the season with a dominating performance over the Golden Shield. The Hawks led for the entirety of the match and had some outstanding performances from both Clayton Blanchette (St. Catharines) and Alex Gibbs (Calgary), who finished with 25 and 11 points respectively.

The Hawks really separated themselves in the final two frames going on a 12-1 run to end the second set, and a 10-3 run to put the game to bed in the third.

Blanchette dominated in the opening frame where he finished with three kills, five aces, and a block as Humber went on to win that set handily by 11 points. He would go on to finish with fourteen kills, nine aces, and two blocks.

Gibbs did his best work in the third and final set where he finished with seven kills. He contributed ten kills and an ace in total to help his team to pick up their eighth win of the season.

The Hawks will take on the fourth place Niagara Knights (7-5) this Thursday, January 26, as they look to sweep the season series for the first time since the 2011-12 OCAA season.  First serve will take place 30 minutes after the completion of the women's match between Humber and Niagara.
