LAST TIME OUT VS GEORGIAN

Due to divisional play, the last time these teams played a regular season game was 2003. Up to that point, the Hawks led the Grizzlies 14-1 in wins.

SCOUTING GEORGIAN

  • Georgian won the East Division with a perfect 18-0 regular season record. They lost a league low nine sets all season
  • After a quick glance at the team stats for Georgian, the one statistic that jumps is the fact that they are number one service aces (138) and service aces per set (2.12)
  • Although they rank in the middle of the field in kills and kills per set, their hitting percentage is a strong fifth (.254)
  • The Grizzlies boast a pair of players that rank among the best in the OCAA offensive stats. Adam Bielby checks in at 3.7 points per set, and Darien Haynes is close behind at 3.3 pps
  • Liam Gray is among the best ball distributors in the league. His mark of 552 assists puts him into the fifth spot in the league

HAWK NOTES

  • Humber was streaky all year long, winning a bunch and dropping about as many, but are coming off a crossover playoff win and have won two of the last three
  • The Hawks dropped off a little bit but still rank high in many league offensive statistics. They are third in aces, and fourth in aces per set and kills per set
  • It is no surprise to see that the scoring of 2017 OCAA scoring leader Clayton Blanchette was a force on the 2016/17 Hawks squad. He outdistanced the second place player by a remarkable 1.1 points per set average. He finished first in kills (322), kills per set (4.88) service aces (39) and aces per set average (0.59)
  • Veteran outside hitter Alex Gibbs has had an outstanding season, checking in with a mark of 3.7 points per set average. This put him into a 14th place tie in the league scoring standings
  • Setter Adam Kinoshita set an all-time Humber assist mark, with 543. He ranks sixth in assists, and fifth in assists per set (8.90)
