HAWKS CHANGE FOCUS TO UPCOMING PLAYOFF AFTER ROAD LOSS

LONDON, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team fell 3 straight to the Fanshawe Falcons in London on February 13, 2016.

The Falcons are placed first in the West Division currently sits at 16-2 while Humber is ranked 6th with a 9-8 record.

Humber's next steps despite the loss will include  a cross-over match to determine their future at the OCAA championships.

The men started the match well going toe to toe with Fanshawe until around the 10 point mark. Fanshawe started to block well and took off.

Fanshawe puts up tall blocks and Humber had a tough time adjusting in the first set. Humber put out tremendous efforts in what looked like it was going to be a tight match.  The final score of the first set was 25-19.

Last time the two faced each other, Humber took a set off the Falcons 25-20. Outside hitter Clayton Blachette had a match total of 18 kills. Today however, the Hawks weren't clicking, and the offense was not executing.

The second set got out to a slow start and throughout the match Humber served tough, but couldn't piece things together in time to gather a lead. Setter Simon Smith was doing a good job setting the ball, but the setter and hitters weren't clicking in order to execute the ball. The final score of the second set was 25-11.

The tone of the third set was very different than that of the first set and partway through the second set. The hawks looked defeated through their body language, and the Falcons did not let up. Things weren't going the way of the Hawks today, and the final score of the third set was 25-10 for Fanshawe.

Humber will play the 5-12 team tied for 7th place, Conestoga on Wednesday at home for their last home game of the season.
