HAWKS LOOK TO GET BACK IN WIN COLUMN AGAINST MOHAWK

Looking to rebound after their first loss of the season, the Humber Hawks men's volleyball team will be on the road to play the undefeated Mohawk Mountaineers.

Last season these teams split the season series, with each team picking up the win on the road.  At the OCAA championship, Mohawk came away with a straight set sweep over Humber, winning the bronze medal 3-0.

The Mountaineers have been playing some very impressive volleyball to begin the 2015-16 OCAA season.  In four matches, they have only lost one set and have won 12 consecutive.  Mohawk is coming off a straight set sweep of the St. Clair Saints, the OCAA silver medal winners last season.

The Hawks lost a hard fought match against the first place Fanshawe Falcons in their last game and now sit in fourth place in the OCAA West Division.  First-year outside hitter Clayton Blanchette paced the way for Humber in the loss, finishing with a career-high 21 points.  The St. Catharines native finished with 18 kills, two service aces, and one stuff block.

It will have almost been a full calendar year since these two teams played each other at the Mohawk Athletic Centre and Humber came away with the win after a close, back-and-forth match.  Former Hawk superstar Terrel Bramwell led all scorers with 28 points, 26 by way of the kill.

Look for Humber to continue to showcase their rookie standout Nathan Murdock.  The six-foot-four outside hitter from Mississauga is currently ranked second in the OCAA, averaging an impressive 4.6 points-per-set.  Murdock is also ranked third with 11 service aces to begin the campaign.  For Mohawk, they are led offensively by Trevor McLaughlin, who has finished with double-digit scoring in three of four contests this season.
