HAWKS LOOK TO TURN SEASON AROUND WITH NORTHERN TRIP

SUDBURY, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, who raced out and almost secured a playoff spot after the first semester, are winless in the second have and desperately in need of a couple of wins to punch their ticket to the playoffs.

The winter semester has not been kind to the Hawks, losers of three in a row and unable to score a single set win. They competed well on Sunday against the visiting St. Clair Saints, but were unable to close sets late.

The Boreal Vipers and the Cambrian Golden Shield look to be the tonic needed for the Hawks, as these two teams have combined for only two victories in twenty six matches.

The 2-11 Boreal Vipers are first up, with the two teams squaring off on Saturday night at 8:00 pm. The two teams met earlier this year at Humber, with the Hawks sweeping Boreal 3-0.

Humber will then travel across town to play the Golden Shield at 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks also swept the Cambrian squad, with no set being even close.

Clayton Blanchette continues to lead the Hawks, and he checks in with a fine mark of 3.0 points per set.
Boreal boasts two players above the 2.0 pps mark, led by Kyle Chartrand and his average of 2.3 pps. The Golden Shield have lost their two top scorers at the break, and do not have any player above 2.0 pps.

Two wins would boost the Hawks to a mark of 9-5, guarantee a regular season mark of .500 and virtually secure a playoff spot. Any blip on the northern trip could be devastating.

Please note that neither of the games are scheduled to be streamed live.
