PLAYOFF BOUND HAWKS TRAVEL TO REDEEMER FOR KEY MATCH UP

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, by way of their sweep of Boreal and Cambrian last weekend, have already punched their ticket to the OCAA play-offs. But, what is left to be decided is where they will end up in the West Division standings, and who they will face in the crossover round.

The game this coming Saturday, in the sometimes crazy atmosphere in the Redeemer University gymnasium, will go a long way in providing a bit more clarity. The first serve is set for 3:00 pm.

Humber enters the match with a 9-5 record, while Redeemer checks in at 10-5. The logjam heightens even more when you add Sheridan at 10-5 as well.

The two teams met earlier this year at the Humber Athletic Centre, with Humber winning in three straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-20. That game was in October, and a lot has changed since then. Both teams have lost key members of their teams, but have re-grouped since and have had big wins lately.

Zac Cowl, now just three games into the season, has been a workhorse. His numbers mirror that of the exited Nathan Murdock, as he checks in with an impressive mark of 4.6 points per set. Freshman stalwart Clayton Blanchette, at 3.0 pps, can now share the load offensively. This type of two man attack served the Hawks very well in the first semester.

Redeemer have a very balanced attack, with five players above the 2.2 pps mark. They are led by Mitchell Harris and his 3.1 pps average.

Volleyball is an emotional game that thrives on teams having the ability to go on extended runs. Playing the friendly and sometimes mad confines of the Redeemer gym, the Royals will certainly have emotion on their side. It will be up to the Hawks to keeps runs at a minimum by the hosts, and try to take the crowd out with runs of their own
