PLAYOFF BOUND HAWKS STILL HAVE EYES ON MOVING UP IN DIVISION

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team, who have already clinched a crossover playoff spot, will be looking for a win that may vault them up in the West Division standings. The Mohawk Mountaineers will make their way to the Humber Athletic Centre on Wednesday night, with a first serve set for 8:00 pm.

The Hawks have struggled out of the gate in the second half, winning just two of six matches, but still clinched a play-off spot with a current record of 9 wins and 6 losses. Mohawk looked to be the class of the league early in the season, but have dropped back and now have 5 losses to go with their 11 wins. They have dropped their last 2 matches, and unable to score a single set win in both outings.

The two teams met earlier this season in Hamilton, and the result was a resounding 3-0 loss to the host Mountaineers. That match featured a terrific offensive talent from each school that is no longer with their respective programs. Nathan Murdock led the Hawks on this day with 14 points, while Bryce Marcussen chipped in with 13 for Mohawk.

Zac Cowl and Clayton Blanchette lead the Hawks in scoring, checking in with 3.9 and 3.0 points per set, respectively. Cowl just joined the Hawks after the break, while freshman Blanchette has been a stalwart player for Humber all year long.

Mohawk also has two players contributing points per set above the 3 mark. Eric Girard leads the way at 4.1 pps, while Trevor McClaughlin is averaging 3.3 pps.

There is still a lot of possibilities when looking at the West Division standings, but the most important factor in play is that both teams need to find a way to get back into a groove they experienced the first semester.
