THIRD STRAIGHT WIN FOR MEN'S VOLLEYBALL; IMPROVE TO 6-2

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team emerged victorious Saturday night after a three set victory over Cambrian College – 25-13, 25-16, 25-11. This win follows two previous victories against Niagara and St. Clair.

The Hawks started off strong in the first set, setting a theme for the remainder of the match. Humber scored the first point which was quickly matched by Cambrian. The Hawks steadily advanced the score, never once letting Cambrian take the lead. Setter Simon Smyth recorded ten assists in a first set that lasted a little over 20 minutes, culminating in a 25-13 win for the Hawks.

The Hawks once again dominated in the second set; their teamwork and determination on display through the course of the match. Through the beginning of the set, Cambrian trailed close behind Humber, threatening to overtake them.  Alex Stefaniuk, a third-year middle from Mississauga, stepped his game up in the set, leading the team in kills on track to a 25-16 win.

The third set cemented the Hawks victory as they continued to dominate the Cambrian Golden Shields. The Hawks scored kill after kill, never once allowing Cambrian to take the lead. The Hawks confidence seemed to grow as the set progressed, with all team members putting their best foot forward. Nathan Murdock played especially well, recording four straight aces to close out the third set.

The 'Hawks Nation' player of the game was Nathan Murdock, a first-year outside hitter hailing from Mississauga, Ontario. Murdock finished with nine kills and five service aces, tying his season-high set earlier against Fanshawe.

Humber is currently on a three-game winning streak with a season record of six wins and two losses. The Hawks are now tied for third place in the ultra-competitive OCAA West Division.

Humber will be back on the home court tomorrow with a match against Boreal. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00pm in the Humber Athletic Centre and can be streamed live following the link at the bottom.
