LOCAL RECRUIT SIGNS WITH HUMBER SOCCER

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber Hawks women's soccer program – fresh off its 2016 OCAA silver medal – is pleased to announce the signing of local standout Remi Pelletier.

"Remi is someone we have been following and pursuing for the last three years," said co-head coach Mauro Ongaro, who owns an 188-47-27 (.766) record in 21 seasons with the Hawks.  "She is an exceptional player and person who will fit in nicely with our team."

Pelletier, who hails from Brampton, Ontario, has enrolled in the Family and Community Social Services program at the University of Guelph-Humber.

"I've always planned to become a social worker for teens, and this program is a perfect fit," said Pelletier when asked why she chose the University of Guelph-Humber. "The opportunity to also play for such a dynamic soccer program helped to make my decision easier as well."

No stranger to Humber soccer, Pelletier is quite familiar with Humber's all-star keeper Vanessa Fiore.

"I played indoor last season with Vanessa, and I built a friendly relationship with her."

Playing competitive soccer for over 12 years, Pelletier has been to the North American Finals twice and currently competes for the North Mississauga Soccer Club.  The athletic accomplishment she is most proud of, however; is being a part of the Olympic Development Program in the United States.

"Remi's soccer IQ is very high, giving her the ability to play many positions," added coach Ongaro.  "We are very excited to have Remi join our program and be part of the Hawks family."

Pelletier, along with incoming recruits Victoria Rodrigues and Dominika Philip, will join the rest of the Humber women's soccer program on the pitch August 15 for the first day of tryouts.
