SPRATT SQUARED: SISTERS TEAM UP TO PLAY SOCCER

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber women's soccer team is getting double the Spratt this season with sister Rebecca joining Rachel in the upcoming year.

Rebecca Spratt, a top midfielder for her high school and club teams in Mississauga, has signed a letter of intent to play college soccer at Humber, announced Hawks coaching tandem Vince Pileggi and Mauro Ongaro last Thursday afternoon.

"We are thrilled to have Rebecca as a part of our program," Coach Pileggi said. "Rebecca is an impact player and a leader on her teams. We look forward to her making the same contribution to Humber soccer."

Spratt stars for both her St. Marcellinus High School squad as well as her North Mississauga Panthers Club team. She is also the younger sister of current Hawks defender and indoor soccer MVP Rachel Spratt.

"I chose Guelph-Humber for the fact that it is a small campus and has small class sizes," said Spratt.  "I also enjoyed how at home I felt when I was at the campus and even practicing with the soccer team."

Spratt has enrolled in the Early Childhood Studies program with the University of Guelph-Humber, a four-year program that offers a bachelor degree and diploma.

"It is my dream to work with special needs children and I like how the program allows you to get hands on experience by receiving a placement in your first semester," replied Spratt when asked why she chose her program.  "It is also amazing that after four years you get a degree and a diploma."

After winning the 2015 U18 Ontario Cup, Spratt has now set her sights on winning at the collegiate level.

"Hopefully we can win an OCAA championship and go to nationals," she added.

Rebecca, her older sister Rachel, and the rest of the Humber soccer team will return to the pitch on August 16th for the first day of tryouts.
