VAUGHAN, Ont – The No. 6 Humber women's soccer team (6-0, 1st Central) begins a four-game homestand this Wednesday against the Conestoga Condors (3-4, 4th Central) at 4:30 p.m.  The match will be streamed live on HSN2.

The Opening Kickoff

  • Goalkeeper Vanessa Fiore has made six starts this season, making 22 saves.
  • Second-year forward Giulia Zanardi leads the league with three game-winning goals this season.
  • Nine Hawks have found the back of the net this season.

Last Time Out
The Hawks finished the road portion of their schedule Saturday against the Sheridan Bruins (3-3, 3rd Central).  Tied 1-1 at the half, the Hawks needed 16 second-half shots before Claudia Piazza netted the game-winner in the 87th minute.

Scouting No. 6 Humber
Humber currently sits first in the OCAA central division at 6-0, including 1-0 at home.  Giulia Zanardi leads the Hawks with ten goals, while four other Hawks have scored three goals each.

Led by five-year standouts Alexandra Giannone and Rachel Spratt, Humber's defence has only allowed three goals this season, on 25 shots.

Scouting Conestoga
At 3-4, the Condors have matched their win total from last season and have better numbers away from home.  Conestoga is currently 2-1 on the road with a goal differential of plus-eight.   

Offensively, the Condors are led by Tiffany Lenselink and Amy Lintack, who have both scored five goals this season.

Last Meeting
At Conestoga, the Hawks came away with a 4-1 win, with goals coming from Giulia Zanardi (2), Danielle Canhoto, and Victoria RodriguesVanessa Fiore made six saves, earning her fourth win of the season.

In the Nation
After extending its win streak to six straight matches, Humber jumped one spot this week and is now ranked as the sixth best program in the country.

At the Helm
Head coaches Vince Pileggi, and Mauro Ongaro are in their 22nd season leading the Humber women's soccer program.  The duo, who have captured seven provincial titles, now sit six wins away from 200 all-time victories.

What's Next
Humber will continue its homestand Wednesday, October 11 against George Brown (1-5, 5th Central).  Kick-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
