No. 7 HAWKS STAY ON TOP, BEAT HUSKIES 5-0

SCARBOROUGH, Ont – The No. 7 Humber Hawks women's soccer team (5-0, 1st Central) continued their hot start to the 2017 season with a 5-0 win on the road against the George Brown Huskies (1-4, 5th Central).

Humber's torrid scoring pace was once again the story of the match, as the Hawks were able to find the back of the net four times in the first half.

Humber Highlights:

  • Claudia Piazza scored her first career OCAA goal.
  • OCAA all-star Rebecca Spratt scored her third goal of the season and now has 10 goals for her career.
  • Giulia Zanardi has scored in all five matches this season and now has 10 on the year.
  • With three goals this season, Shaniece Bennett has established a new career-high.

Game Notes:

  • Vanessa Fiore and Amanda Olvera combined for Humber's third clean sheet of the year.
  • Head coaches Vince Pileggi and Mauro Ongaro now sit seven wins away from 200 all-time victories.
  • Since the realignment of the divisions in 2015, the Hawks improve to 5-0 against George Brown; four of which were shutouts.
  • Humber has now scored five or more goals three times this season.
