PREVIEW: No. 9 HAWKS ON THE ROAD TO FACE No. 11 CAMBRIAN

SUDBURY, Ont -- A clash of two undefeated teams are set to face off this Saturday afternoon, as the no. 9 Humber Hawks women's soccer team travel to Sudbury where they will take on the no. 11 Cambrian Golden Shield.

LAST TIME OUT VS CAMBRIAN:

  • Both teams matched up against each other in the opening game of the 2015 OCAA Championship in October.  Humber suffered an agonizing loss, as they lost 1-0 after the match went to a penalty shootout. 

SCOUTING CAMBRIAN:

  • The Golden Shield won their home-opener with a 2-1 win against Sheridan.
  • Gabrielle Conrad and Tiffany Johnson each scored a goal that game. Conrad's was the game-winning goal.
  • The Golden Shield is best known for their ability to score. They averaged 5.42 goals per game last year, with their primary source of scoring coming behind the play of Tiffany Johnson, the OCAA all-time leader in goals. She led the OCAA in goals last season with 28. This was also a single-season record.
  • Cambrian had an overall record of 10-2 in the 2016-17 season. They finished their season with their second bronze medal in their school's history after a win over Seneca.

HAWKS NOTES: 

  • Giulia Zanardi is the current OCAA leader in goals scored (6). She tallied three goals last year during her freshman season.
  • Victoria Rodrigues scored in both games this season and now has three this season.
  • In their two games this season, Humber has outscored their opponents 13-1.
