REGULAR SEASON COMING TO A CLOSE FOR HAWKS SOFTBALL

VAUGHAN, ON:  The Humber Hawks women's softball (12-8, 4th OCAA) team will wrap up their 2016 OCAA season this weekend with two doubleheaders that will may have large playoff implications.

On Saturday, October 15th, the Hawks will host the St. Clair Saints (13-3, 1st OCAA), looking to seek revenge after two early season losses on the road.  St. Clair features one of the top athletes in the league in Alexa Georgiou, who is ranked tenth in the league in batting average (.407) and third in earned run average (1.88 in 48.1 innings) as a pitcher.

With less than 24-hours turnaround, the Hawks will then host the Fanshawe Falcons (13-5, 2nd OCAA) on Sunday, October 16.  Similar to St. Clair, Humber will be looking to even the season series with the Falcons and close out the season on a high note.  These two teams last met on Saturday at the CCSA National Championships and Humber came away with a 3-1 win thanks to two outfield assists from Aaliyah Davidson (Brampton) and a 3/3 day at the dish from Meaghan Murphy (Brampton).

Despite the tough matchups to end the season, the Hawks head home red-hot.  In OCAA action, the Hawks are a perfect 8-0 at home and own the longest current win-streak in the league.  For Humber, no other hitter may be more locked in than veteran outfielder Elisa Gregoris (Mississauga).  The police foundations major has 12 RBI's in her last six games and is hitting .545 over that span.

Humber's pitching staff comes into the weekend also red-hot and currently owns the third-best team ERA (3.85), points behind St. Clair's league-best of 3.77.  Myranda Pierson (Toronto) is tied for first in wins (7) and sixth in ERA (2.57).  Freshman sensation Rachel Matheson-Green (Oakville), who was tremendous in her CCSA debut, currently owns the second best ERA in the league (1.83).  Briana Donaldson (Gorrie) has also been tremendous as of late and hasn't allowed a run in her last eight innings of work.

First game against St. Clair is scheduled for 1:00pm, with game two immediately following.  If you can't make it to the park, the game will be live streamed and can be found here
