HAWKS CONTINUE ROAD TRIP AGAINST CONESTOGA

KITCHENER, ON: The Humber Hawks softball (0-4, 6th OCAA) team will once again be on the road Friday afternoon as they head to Budd Park to play a doubleheader against the Conestoga Condors (2-4, 5th OCAA).

The OCAA schedule has not been kind to the Humber Hawks thus far, as they begin the season with six consecutive road games.  Last weekend the Hawks were on the road and lost three games by a combined four runs.

These two programs are already familiar with each other after facing off in preseason action.  Freshman pitcher Rachel Matheson-Green (Oakville) led Humber to an 11-3 win after allowing one run over four innings of work.

The Condors were swept their last time out, dropping two games to the defending provincial champion Durham Lords (4-0, 1st OCAA).  Conestoga lost both games in heartbreaking fashion, as the Lords came away with two walk-off wins.

Despite the poor start so far, the top of the order for Humber hit very well last weekend.  Aaliyah Davidson (Brampton) and Bonnie Gillingham (Brampton) are hitting .667 and .533 respectively, while leading the team with eight hits each.  As a team, the Hawks are only hitting .298, indicating their failure to deliver hits in big situations.  With a stacked lineup one through nine, Humber should see those numbers rise Friday when they face a Conestoga pitching staff that owns a combined team ERA of 6.42.

Game one of the doubleheader begins at 5:00pm at Budd Park in Kitchener.
