HAWKS DROP TWO EXTRA INNING GAMES ON ROAD AT DURHAM

OSHAWA, ON: The Humber Hawks women's softball team have been so close to taking their win/loss record to the next level this season, but a number of extra inning losses have been their undoing.

On Thursday night in Oshawa against the defending champion Durham Lords, the Hawks dropped two more in this fashion. With the two defeats, Humber's season record has fallen to three wins and seven losses.

The first game was a tight 2-1 loss in eight innings, despite the incredible one-hit gem by Myranda Pierson. Rookie Jenna Hillman continued her hot pace to start her career as she led the team with two hits, and was responsible for knocking in the Hawks only run.

The second saw both teams much more active offensively, but it was Humber that once again came out on the bottom half of a 6-5 extra inning affair. Veterans Bonnie Gillingham and Kaitlyn Pitek were the stars at the plate, checking in with two hits apiece. Pitek led the squad with two RBI's. Bree Donaldson, who came in to relieve Rachel Matheson-Green, was saddled with the loss.

Humber will have the ability to avenge these loss very quickly, as they will host this very same Durham Lords team on Sunday at the Hawks home park. The doubleheader will start at 1:00 pm, with the second game to begin thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one. Both games will take place at Connorvale Park in Mississauga.
