Durham and TRU Will Battle for the National Crown

ETOBICOKE – After dropping their first game to start the tournament, the Durham Lords and TRU Wolfpack will battle it out for the national title tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

Quarter-Final 1: TRU 1, Lionel-Groulx 0
One run was all the Wolfpack needed to advance to the semifinals, coming off of an RBI single from Ethan Klebeck in the second inning.

Jack Suhai picked up the win for TRU, throwing 4.1 shutout innings. Eric Turner picked up the save in relief, after only allowing two base runners in 2.2 innings of work.

Nordiques pitcher Nicolas Bel’humeur took the tough complete-game loss, only surrendering four hits in six innings.

Quarter-Final 2: Durham 6, John Abbott 0
The Lords rode a three-hitter from Connor May to defeat the Islanders at Connorvale. D’Amico, Oliver, Cruickshank, and McIntosh combined for eight hits and seven RBIs in the game.

Semifinal 1: TRU 6, Holland 4
After giving up three runs to start the game, Holland scored four runs in the second inning to take the lead.

With the game on the line, Adam Filmon laced a two-run double to retake the lead in the seventh inning. Liam Shiabata followed with a single to score Filmon, giving the Wolfpack a two-run lead heading into the home half of the inning.

Tyler Hodder finished what he started on the mound, going three-up-three-down for the complete-game victory.

Semifinal 2: Durham 5, Humber 2
In a rematch of the OCAA Championship Final, the Lords turned to Pitcher of the Year Jason Crouse to book their spot in the NCBC title game. Crouse went the distance, striking out eight Humber hitters to pick up the win. Jake Legros did most of the damage for Durham at the dish, finishing with a game-high three RBIs.
