Hawks Power Their Way To OCAA Title Game On Saturday

OSHAWA, ON: The Humber Hawks men's baseball put an exclamation mark on their way to a spot in Saturday's OCAA gold medal game on Friday night at Kinsmen Civic Stadium in Oshawa, as they knocked off the hometown Durham Lords 10-0 in a mercy shortened five inning affair.

With the win, the Hawks will await the winner of the St. Clair/Durham bronze medal game on Saturday morning. The winner will advance in the double-knockout event to play the undefeated Hawks, while the loser will claim bronze. Durham defeated St. Clair in first round action on Friday afternoon.

Humber was firing on all cylinders on Friday night, combining a fine pitching performance from Hawks veteran Steven Hough and an awesome offensive display that featured six extra-base hits from six different players.

Hough pitched the complete game, allowing six hits while striking out five. For his efforts, he was selected as the Humber Player of the Game.

In the eleven hit outburst, it was 2019 OCAA all-stars Liam Sutherland and Sam Lebel who led the way. The two combine for a five for seven night. Dennis Dei Baning also rapped out a pair of hits and led the team with four RBI's.
