Humber Leads the OCAA With 59 All-Academic Selections
ETOBICOKE – A total of 59 Humber varsity student-athletes have earned OCAA All-Academic honours in their respective sports, as announced by the conference Monday afternoon. As the all-time leader in CCAA and OCAA titles, Humber's lofty goals and unflappable determination that permeate our academic spirit also propel our athletic dominance.
Under the guidance of Varsity Academic Coordinator Mallory Lawton, the Hawks continue to thrive in the academic component of undergraduate life, while being groomed to succeed in the increasingly competitive academic environment at Humber. To receive this honour, student-athletes have to be a member in good standing of a varsity athletic team and attain an 80 per cent average in the semester they are competing in.
12 programs had at least one student-athlete selected, with the women's volleyball team leading the way with 10 All-Academic selections. Cross country followed close behind with nine selections, while softball finished in third with seven selections.
Humber's 59 selections were the most in the province, finishing with 12 more All-Academic honours than second-place St. Clair.
