Best of the Decade: Top Team

ETOBICOKE – When a varsity program captures 30 national championships and 127 provincial gold medals in the span of 10 years, picking the top team of the decade becomes increasingly difficult.

With all that said, one team stood out from the rest, dominating the season start-to-finish, then moved on to represent Canada internationally.

TOP TEAM OF THE DECADE

MEN'S GOLF | 2010-11
The men's golf team became a Humber powerhouse in the 2000s, running off 10 national titles in the span of 12 years. The 2010-11 men's golf team was one for the ages, one that former golf coach and current Director of Athletics Ray Chateau calls one of the greatest squads ever assembled.

After dominating at nationals and provincials, the Hawks went on to capture the triple crown. Comprised of Mark Hoffman, Adrian Cord, David Lang, Greg Belsito, and Alex Dumais, Humber would post the low team score in each round and win the 2011 Golf Canada University/College Championships by 18 strokes. Captain Mark Hoffman was the only golfer under par for the tournament and all five Hawks would finish in the top-14 in a field of 103 of the country's best collegiate golfers.

The Hawks would build on their success from the collegiate season as Mark Hoffman went on to win the 2011 Ontario Amateur and teammate David Lang would become the first Hawk to compete in the U.S. Amateur.  In August, Hoffman, Cord, Belsito, and Coach Chateau represented Canada at the 2011 Universiade in Shenzhen, China. In 2014, Alex Dumais would help Canada finish fifth at the World University Championship.
