Top Humber Varsity Moments of the Decade - 2019

ETOBICOKE – 2019 marks the end of the decade, yet history continued to be made and records continued to fall.

30 national titles, 127 provincial championships, all-time dynasties, and late-game dramatics over the last ten years all led to Humber Varsity establishing itself as the top collegiate program in the country.

6. The retirement of Jimmy B
After four decades at Humber College, Jim Bialek closed the book on his remarkable career. He created the sports information department for the Hawks, helping to shine a light on the incredible accomplishments of Humber's student-athletes. The creation of the Hawks Sports Network made Humber the most visible athletic department in the country, boasting the most extensive live stream playlist in the CCAA.

5. Re-writing the rugby sevens record book
Two of the best to ever do it concluded their careers in the Fall, shattering almost every record OCAA record along the way. In four years, Christina Branch and Cheyenne De Luca helped lead Humber to a 60-8 (.882) record and two provincial titles. The duo retires as the top-two scorers in league history, and own all six individual scoring records, combined.

4. Walk it off
Jessica MacPherson singled up the middle to score Meagan Muir, and the Hawks beat the four-time defending champion Durham Lords in extra innings to capture their first provincial title since 2013.

3. Three-peat
The women's indoor soccer team beat Fanshawe in the finals, 4-2, to win its third straight provincial title. The Hawks are the only indoor program to three-peat, a feat Humber has accomplished on three separate occasions (1999-01, 2011-13, 2016-19).

2. Three in a Rowe
In three years – with three different partners – Chloe Rowe has won three straight national titles in the women's doubles badminton discipline. Rowe joined Humber legends Adam Dong and Olivia Lei as the only players in program history to win three CCAA titles.

1. The first to ever do it
In his first season with Humber badminton, Ramnish Kumar dominated the men's singles circuit. After receiving OCAA Player of the Year and All-Canadian honours, Ramnish went on to win the first men's singles national title in Humber history.
