The Storyline
No. 10 Humber men's basketball will open the 2020 OCAA Championship Friday afternoon at Lambton College. Humber's quarter-final matchup will be against the Georgian Grizzlies (13-8) with tipoff set for 1 p.m. 

The Matchup
Humber basketball has won six straight OCAA quarter-final games and boast a 28-2 record all-time in the opening round. This will be the second consecutive meeting between these two teams in the opening round, with Humber taking last year's matchup by a score of 88-61. Kevin Otoo led the way for Humber in the win, finishing with a game-high 17 points.

Scouting Georgian

  • The Grizzlies come into this one after defeating the Mohawk Mountaineers, 88-78 in the crossover round.
  • Tyler Vanessen is leading the team in scoring, averaging 18.4 PPG.
  • Georgian finished the season allowing just 76.3 PPG – good for fourth-best in the OCAA.
  • As a team, Georgian averaged 74.5 PPG – the fifth lowest in the league.

The Hawks hosted St. Lawrence in a crossover game for the fourth straight season, capturing their 16th win of the year, 119-71. Jaylan Morgan scored a game-high 21 points, while Fowzi Mohamoud finished with 18 points on six-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. Humber's 48-point victory was its largest OCAA postseason margin, surpassing the previous high of 47 set last season in the semi-final against Niagara. The Hawks improved to 7-0 all-time in the crossover round.

  • Humber's 14 provincial titles are the most in OCAA history, with Sheridan sitting close behind at 13.
