Big Second-Half Lifts Men's Basketball Over No. 14 Fanshawe

LONDON — Humber men's basketball extended its win streak to 11 with a tough road win over No. 14 Fanshawe (9-5, 5th West) Saturday evening, 93-80.

After dropping their first matchup at home against the Falcons to fall to 0-4 on the season, Humber looked for a measure of revenge as they took the court in London.

Jordon Francis continued his strong play since returning to the Hawks, as he finished with 14 points, seven assists, a career-high five steals, and two rebounds in the game.

The Hawks played a neck-and-neck opening quarter with Fanshawe as neither team was able to put together a substantial run. As would be the case for much of the night, Jaylan Morgan and the Falcon's Marko Maletic traded buckets in the first half.

Humber struggled to stop Maletic in the opening half, as he scored 19 points in the first two quarters helping his team take a five-point lead into the break. The Hawks struggled offensively in the first 20 minutes, shooting one-of-17 from three-point range and 10-of-20 from the free-throw line.

After the break, Humber took the game over in the third, dropping 35 points in the quarter. The Hawks shot 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) in the frame while shutting down Fanshawe on the other end as they took a 13-point lead into the final quarter.

Humber's lead would grow to as much as 18 points, as the Falcons faded late and were unable to stop the Hawks' offence. Fanshawe would get that lead down to as low as 11 points, but it would prove too much to overcome in the end.

Jaylan Morgan continued his torrid scoring pace, recording a team-high 24 points in the win.
