The Storyline
No. 10 Humber women's basketball will begin its title defence Friday evening against Georgian (3-14, 7th East). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
Due to the 2019 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship being hosted at Humber College, the game will take place at the UTM Gym in Mississauga.
The Matchup
As the second seed in the West Division, the Hawks (18-2, 2nd West) will host the Georgian Grizzlies for a crossover game. Humber has won 23 consecutive games against the Grizzlies, dating back to an 86-43 win on Oct. 10, 1988.
Scouting Georgian
- The Grizzlies have lost seven straight OCAA games, averaging a league-low 41.5 PPG.
- Georgian is led offensively by Kelsey Dunkeld and her 11.1 PPG.
- From 1984 to 1989, the Grizzlies won six straight division II bronze medals. Since the OCAA merged divisions in 1990, Georgian has not won a medal.
Previous Meeting
The last time these two teams met, Humber beat Georgian in the 2011 quarter-final matchup at Algonquin, 64-51. Under head coach Denise Perrier, Humber won its first quarter-final game in four years. Kaitlynn Paulley led all scorers with 17 points, while Maria Suriani added 14 points of her own.

- The Hawks are 17-5 all-time in the OCAA postseason during the Ajay Sharma era – including 12 consecutive playoff victories.

Senior Leticia Lopez led the league with 58 3-pointers made – the second most in program history. In three years with Humber basketball, Lopez scored 564 career points, the tenth most in program history.
This season, her 269 points were a career-high and the ninth most all-time by a Humber student-athlete.
Dimes
Second-year guard Makeba Taylor averaged 5.0 assists-per-game this season – the top mark in the division.
Percentages
Humber finished the regular season with a .900-plus win percentage for the fifth straight year and the 16th time since joining Division I in 1989.
