HAWKS DOMINATE TALENTED ALUMNI TEAM ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Recap by Ronny Musikitele

Saturday's Alumni games capped off an array of events for the Humber College Athletics who celebrated its annual Family & Alumni weekend. Friday's family night was filled with smiles and love as the same energy continued on Saturday. Humber Hawks Women's basketball & volleyball teams kicked off the Alumni Games event on Saturday as they both battled their Humber Alumni's. The Hawks women's basketball team imposed their will on defence early in the game and never let up.

They showed all their families and friends in attendance just why they're the defending national champions, as they beat their Alumni's 86-39. Prior to the game and after it ended, it was all love and games between the current & former players. However, during the game it was all about competing. The game started off relatively slow, as both teams struggled to find a rhythm early on. Midway through the first quarter, the Hawks basketball team inserted their will with tenacious defence and began forcing turnovers after turnovers. The newly acquired Britannia Brown from the University of Winnipeg Wesmen had a terrific game and showed what she will be bringing to this storied program. She forced multiple turnovers throughout the game and also scored in double digits showing that she can play well on both sides of the court.

Despite the blowout the two teams cracked jokes and embraced each other after the game. After the game both teams gathered up in the middle clapping and thanking their family and friends for the support. In all it was another year to remember and it was clear that the unity between the alumni's and the current players runs deep. The gym was raving with joy as they can only wait for what is looking to be another exciting year for the defending national champions.
