No. 1 HAWKS SURPASS CENTURY MARK IN SEASON FINALE

SARNIA, ON -- Behind 60 combined points from veterans Ceejay Nofuente, Jill Semple, and Aleena Domingo, Humber women's basketball downed Lambton, 115-47, Sunday afternoon at Lambton College.

The Hawks (18-0, 1st West) matched its win total from a season ago. Nofuente paced all scorers with 28 points on 9-of-12 shooting with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Semple dropped 19 points, while Domingo added 13 points and four steals. 

Humber shot 50.6 per cent (41-of-81) from the field, including a scorching 55.6 per cent from three in the second half. The Hawks also dished out 26 assists and grabbed 66 rebounds.

Madisyn Campbell led three Lions in double-figures with 19 points.  The Hawks held Lambton (5-13, 7th West) to a season-low 21.1 per cent (15-of-71) from the floor.

After opening the game on a 13-2 run, the Hawks would not relent and continued to outscore Lambton in every quarter.  In the third frame, the Hawks recorded a season-high 37 points and finished the game with a season-high 115 points.  Entering the playoffs, the Hawks offence has now surpassed the century mark in three of its last four contests.

Humber will now have 12 days off before heading to Seneca College as the number one seed in the 2016-17 OCAA Championship.

GAME NOTES

  • Humber's 115-point game made the Hawks the first OCAA program to surpass 1500 total points in a season (1501).
  • With her second made three pointer of the game, Ceejay Nofuente became Humber's all-time single season scoring leader after surpassing Donna Lidstone '81 (369 pts).
  • In the second quarter, Aleena Domingo became the second member of Humber's 800-point club.
  • After finishing with 11 rebounds, Humber's all-time leading rebounder Chioma Oriuwa ends her career with 526 rebounds.
