No. 1 HAWKS ROLL PAST LAMBTON, 91-49

ETOBICOKE, Ont: The no. 1 Humber women's basketball team (6-0, 1st West) scored a season-high 91 points en route to a 91-49 win over the Lambton Lions (2-5, 7th West) at the Humber Athletic Centre Saturday afternoon.  Third-year guard Leticia Lopez (Toronto) finished with a career-high 17 points, along with four rebounds, five assists, and five steals for the Hawks.

CCAA Player of the Year Ceejay Nofuente (Toronto) recorded with her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with a game-high 19 points and 12 assists, including an impressive 4-7 from three-point range.

Aleena Domingo (Toronto) and Jill Semple (Etobicoke) also contributed double-figures in the contest, posting 10 points each.  The Hawks forced Lambton into 29 turnovers.

Chioma Oriuwa (Brampton), Humber's all-time leading rebounder, finished with a game-high 11 rebounds in the win.

Domingo opened the scoring for the Hawks, connecting on an elbow jumper as Humber began the game on a 12-0 run.  After 20 minutes of play, the Hawks went into half with a 53-17 lead.

Humber continued to dominate in the second half, as Lambton would get no closer than 39 points, as the Hawks posted the 91-49 win.

Despite the win, Humber continued to struggle from the free-throw line, finishing with a season-low 47.1 percent (8-17) at the line.

The Hawks will have little turnaround before playing their next game tomorrow against the no. 14 St. Clair Saints (6-1, 2nd West).  Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 1pm and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network. A game preview can be found here.
