HAWKS OPEN SECOND HALF ON HOME COURT VS REDEEMER

ETOBICOKE, ON: In what is a unique twist to the OCAA schedule, Humber (9-0, 1st West) and Redeemer (5-4, 6th West) will open up the second half after just facing each other in the second last game of the first semester.

Last Time Out

The Hawks placed five players in double figures, led by Ceejay Nofuente's 17 points, and walked away with a solid 77-56 road victory. Veteran Aleena Domingo came up with her best effort of the year, as she ripped down 18 rebounds to goa along with her 13 points.

Hawk Notes

  • Knocked in five-plus threes in all nine games this season.
  • Lead the entire OCAA in points for per game (78.89) and least points surrendered (51.56). This equates to an incredible mark on winning games by an average of 27.34 points per games
  • Won 20 consecutive regular season road games dating back to a 67-63 loss at St. Clair on November 8, 2014.
  • Been ranked as the number one program in the country for five consecutive weeks.
  • Ceejay Nofuente is currently averaging 20.9 ppg and is on pace to become the first Hawk to average 20-plus points in a season since Hall of Famer Beth Latendresse averaged 20.7 ppg during the 1999-2000 season. She currently sits in fourth place of OCAA scorers.
  • Nofuente hit the 700 point mark for points in a career, by way of her 25 point effort in the last game of the first half versus Mohawk.
  • Currently on a 46 game winning streak within OCAA league and play-off action, and 33 straight wins overall.

Scouting Redeemer

  • The Royals have had a very good start to their season, and sit in a play-off spot. At 5-4, they are three games ahead of the seventh place Lambton Lions
  • Redeemer narrowly missed the playoffs last season after finishing 7-11, good enough for seventh place. 
  • The Royals are led by all-star Jesseca Brown who is averaging 20.2 ppg, and won the West division scoring title last season.
  • Lindsay Moffatt also checks in with an average in double figures, now at 13.6 ppg
  • Kayla Prete leads the team in rebounding, checking in with a mark of 7.6 rpg
  • The Hawks are 36-0 all-time against Redeemer, dating back to their first matchup during the 1991-92 OCAA season
  • Humber has scored 100-plus points in three games against the Royals.  The last coming in a 105-49 win during the 1995-96

Hawks History Watch

In his sixth season at the helm, head coach Ajay Sharma eclipsed the 100 win mark for his career.  Coach Sharma currently owns a 101-21 (.828) record

The all-time leading scorers in program history continues to change as Hawks superstars Ceejay Nofuente and Aleena Domingo continue to move up the rankings.
