No. 1 HAWKS WIN BIG ON SENIOR DAY

ETOBICOKE, Ont – A double-double by Chioma Oriuwa paced no. 1 Humber to a 108-35 win over Cambrian College Sunday afternoon at the Humber Athletic Centre.

The Hawks (16-0, 1st West), playing in their second game in less than 24 hours, used Oriuwa's first double-double of the year to secure Humber's third consecutive season unbeaten at home.

Taylor Caverley-Grasby led the Golden Shield (1-17, 10th West) with 13 points, which shot 17.3 per cent.  Cambrian, which trailed by as many as 41 points in the first half, has lost 10 straight games.

Oriuwa, who was honoured pregame, played in her final home game as a Hawk and finished with a season-high 14 points and 13 rebounds.

As part of Senior Day, Atissa Cronk was also honoured pregame and made her first start of the season after recovering from a severe knee injury.  The five-foot-ten forward opened the scoring for Humber, as the Hawks began the game on a 6-0 run.  Humber converted just under 53 per cent in the first quarter while forging a 31-9 lead.

Freshman forward Miea Campbell-Johnson scored a career-high 12 points in the first half and finished with seven rebounds.

Anna Jacobs also scored a career-high 10 points for Humber, which shot a season-best 51.9 per cent from the floor.

In the third quarter, Chioma Oriuwa became the first Humber women's basketball player to record 500 career rebounds.

Humber returns to action Saturday to wrap up the 2016-17 OCAA regular season when it travels to Windsor for a weekend doubleheader.  On Saturday, February 18, the Hawks will play St. Clair (11-5, 4th West) with tip-off scheduled for 4pm.
