Four National Medals on the Line for No. 2 Badminton

MISSISSAUGA -- After two days of competition against the top badminton student-athletes in Canada, No. 2 Humber badminton will have all four disciplines vying for a national medal on the final day. 

After finishing pool play with a 5-0 record and outscoring their opponents 210-92, teammates Chloe Rowe and Susanna Quach rolled through the semifinal stage, defeating Concordia in straight sets. The duo will now compete for a national title on Mar. 7 at 2 p.m. For Rowe, she will be looking to become the first player in program history to win four straight national titles.

Defending national champion Ramnish Kumar dropped his first match of the tournament then won four straight to finish second in pool play. In the semifinal stage, he defeated the 2020 CCAA Player of the Year Roymond Kim, 2-0 (21-19, 21-13). Kumar will now face rival Pranav Satheesh from Conestoga in the finals - a rematch of the OCAA title match.

Teammates Ayubu Touray and Arpit Taneja will battle for their second straight CCAA bronze medal. After sneaking out of pool play, the duo fell in the semifinal and will now play Concordia in the bronze medal match.

Desmond Chan and Victoria Duong, playing in their first national tournament together, finished pool play with a 3-2 record and fell to Poy Lo and Christine Nguyen in the semifinal. The duo will now compete in the bronze medal match beginning at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
