ETOBICOKE – In support of a long-lasting academic partnership with the Broadcast, Television/Videography (BRTV) department, Humber Athletics and BRTV have developed a 3-point contest to ensure Humber students continue to receive practical in-class experience during the pandemic. In these unprecedented times, creative measures need to be made to ensure these students continue to receive a top-notch Humber education in a safe learning environment.

For almost two decades, this partnership has been mutually beneficial, with over 70 Humber varsity events live-streamed annually. Helping the Hawks remain the most visible program in the country, Humber BRTV students get hands-on broadcasting experience, in an unscripted sporting environment.

Thanks to the tireless work of the Humber College staff, the BRTV department, and the Athletics department, the 3-point contest has been designed to maximize competition while ensuring the safety of all staff, students, and student-athletes involved.

THE RULES

First Round

The participants have 80 seconds to make as many 3-pointers as possible. Players can accumulate points with each shot made. The three players with the most points at the end of the first-round advance.

Where players will shoot from

3-Point Diagram There are racks of balls at five spots around the 3-point arc (refer to diagram). Each rack has four regular balls and one 'money' ball. Each shot made with a regular ball counts as one point, and each shot made with a money ball is worth two points.

In addition to the five racks, two 3-balls have been added and are worth three points. The balls will be positioned equidistant between the traditional racks at the top of the 3-points arc and the adjacent wing rack and located six feet behind the 3-point line.

Tiebreaker

In the event of a tie, there is a 30-second tiebreaker round, same racks of balls, same spots.

Final Round

The top three finishers from the first round will compete in reverse order, from the lowest total to the highest. Same time limit, same shooting spots. The player with the most points is the winner.

Tiebreaker

In the event of a tie, there is a full 80-second tiebreaker round, same racks of balls, same spots.
