Women’s Basketball Trio Receive All-Ontario Honours

WINDSOR – No. 8 Humber women's basketball garnered numerous league accolades Thursday evening when the OCAA announced its yearly awards as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

The Hawks finished the season 17-1 and clinched the division title for the sixth time during the Coach Sharma era.

Miea Campbell-Johnson paced the way for Humber, earning an all-star selection for the second straight year. The fourth-year forward was named to the first team after leading the team in scoring. Her 266 points were a career-high and the ninth most in program history. The Brampton native grabbed a team-high 160 boards and recorded six double-doubles this season.

Senior guard Jahnae Gyles received a second team selection for the second straight year. The Mississauga native moved into fifth all-time in scoring at Humber with 749 career points.

First-year phenom Kia Watt was selected to the OCAA All-Rookie team after playing 15 games with Humber and averaging 13.9 PPG. The Toronto native shot 41.9 percent from the floor and recorded 20-plus points three times this season.

Humber has now received 18 OCAA all-star and five all-rookie selections in the Ajay Sharma era.

The end of the banquet marks the beginning of the 2020 OCAA Championship, hosted by St. Clair College. Humber will open the tournament against Sheridan on Mar. 6 at 8 p.m.
