HAWKS JESSE ASSING & PHUTHITA NILYOK SNARE CCAA SILVER
NANAIMO, BRITISH COLUMBIA: The Mixed Doubles team of Jesse Assing and Phuthita Nilyok captured the CCAA National Silver Medal on Saturday afternoon at Vancouver Island University.
The duo were defeated in the gold medal game by a pair from the ACAC (Alberta), by scores of 211-10 and 21-16. The two teams met in the round robin, with a similar result, and was the Hawks only loss of the tournament.
Of note, the silver medal of Assing's was his second national medal of the year. He won gold with the men's soccer team in the fall. He also grabbed provincial gold in both soccer and badminton.
Both players shared in OCAA 1's win of the CCAA Team Supremacy title.
