TRACY WONG NAMED TO CANADA’S FISU GAMES TEAM FOR THIRD TIME

For the third time in her storied career, Tracy Wong has been named to Canada's FISU World University Games Team. The fifth year star, who boasts one of the most impressive resumes in OCAA Badminton history, is headed to Gwangju, South Korea this summer.

To simply list Tracy's accomplishments does not do justice to just how impactful she has been, but they are a good place to start. This past year alone she won a National Gold Medal, Provincial Gold Medal, and a pair of Women's Singles Titles at both the Centennial and Fanshawe Invitationals.  Over the course of her career Wong has two CCAA Player of the Year Awards, been honored as OCAA Player of the Year on four occasions, and been named to the CCAA All-Canadian Team four times. Winning just one of these prestigious honors often highlights a great college career; for Wong, they have been annual occurrences.

While Tracy stands out on the court, her work in the classroom is just as impressive. At the end of the semester, she will complete her degree in Kinesiology at Guelph-Humber, to go along with a diploma in Health and Fitness. She is a regular honor roll student, and considering the dedication she shows her sport it's incredible that she manages to so frequently excel in the classroom.

Michael Kopinak, Associate Athletic Director at Humber and Wong's coach for her first three seasons, sums up her incredible time as a Hawk: "Tracy is one of the greatest Female OCAA Athletes of All-Time, and beyond that has consistently excelled academically. As great an athlete as she is, Tracy is an even better person who represents what Humber Athletics are all about."

Having already participated in two FISU Games, Wong is hopeful her experience will give her a leg up on what should be a stacked field. She has competed against Olympic athletes before, and will be headed to South Korea with lofty expectations for herself. For a student-athlete with Wong's combination of work-ethic and skill, the sky is the limit. We all look forward to seeing her representing Canada against the world's best.
