FIVE HUMBER PROGRAMS NAMED IN FIRST CCAA RANKINGS OF 2016

CORNWALL, ON: In the first edition of the 2016 CCAA rankings, the defending national champions find themselves on the list for the first time this season.  The men's basketball team began the season dealing with injuries that led to a slow start but ended the first-half of the season winning three-straight games, including two over nationally ranked programs.

After receiving a four spot boost in the previous rankings, the men's volleyball program remained fixed in the seventh seed.  After starting the season 3-2, the Hawks found their rythm and finished the first half of the regular season winning four straight. Among those wins were big victories over the reigning OCAA champions Niagara College and runner-ups St. Clair College.

With a 9-0 first-half record, the women's volleyball program remained ranked third overall, a position the Hawks have held since November 24, 2015.  The Hawks will begin the second-half of the season at home against Sheridan, looking to win their ninth straight OCAA championship.

When the original rankings were revealed on November 3, 2015, the women's basketball team were sitting in the four seed.  After running rampant through the OCAA west division and finishing the first-half undefeated, the Hawks remain ranked second overall behind powerhouse Lethbridge College.

Badminton remains in the top spot after having last month off.  Their next tournament is the Centennial Invitational on January 15th.
