HUMBER’S OLIVIA LEI NAMED PLAYER OF THE YEAR AFTER DOMINANT FRESHMEN SEASON

Olivia Lei, in her first year as a Hawk, has been named the OCAA's Player of the Year after an incredible freshmen season in which she did not lose a single single set.

Lei's year began with Titles in both Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles play at the Humber Cup, followed in short succession by an undefeated showing at the Georgian Team Competition. At the year's biggest tournament thus far, the Western Division Regional's at Humber, Lei went a perfect 7-0 in capturing the Women's Singles Title. Over the weekend, Olivia combined to outscore opponents 294-73 in what was among the most dominant performances in recent memory.

Lei's most impressive outing may have actually been outside OCAA competition, her performance at the Toronto Open. Olivia had the best showing of anyone in Humber's storied history at the Open, medaling in multiple events. Olivia took home a pair of Bronze Medals, one in Singles and one in Mixed Doubles.

Seven Hawks were also recognized as Regional All-Stars, by far the largest contingent of any school. All-Stars included Lei, Tracy Wong, Adam Dong, Ryan Chow, Darcy Schmidt, Michelle Chow and Christina Duong.

Olivia heads into this weekend looking to continue her excellent first year, stay tuned to @HumberHawks for updates throughout the weekend.
