HAWKS LEI WINS 2ND CONSECUTIVE CCAA PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

HAWKS LEI WINS 2ND CONSECUTIVE CCAA PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD

NANAIMO, BRITISH COLUMBIA: Olivia Lei of the Humber Hawks was named the 2016 CCAA Women's Badminton Player of the Year and CCAA All Canadian, at the CCAA Championship Awards Banquet held in Nanaimo, British Columbia.

Lei, a second year student-athlete from Guang Xi, is now a two-time winner of both awards as she was recognized for her achievements at the 2015 banquet.

Since she stepped on the court in the 2015 season, her resume is flawless. She won both the 2015 OCAA and CCAA women's singles gold medals as a freshman, not losing a set all year long. She was also honoured with the 2015 CCAA Fair Play award.

This season mirrors last years, with the one exception being the chase for another national women's title is at hand, with competition beginning on Thursday. She will battle five other competitors from across the country, all vying for the coveted crown.

Two seasons, two Provincial and National Player of the Year awards, two OCAA championships, one national gold and another at hand – it does not matter how one does the math, this total is just incredible.
