HAWKS BADMINTON COMBINE TO GO 11-4 ON DAY ONE AT NATIONALS

UPDATE: The Hawks have wrapped up a highly successful first day at the National Championship; Humber's  Women's Singles, Men's Singles and Mixed Doubles Teams combined to go a perfect 9-0.

Jesse Assing opened the day with an upset victory over OCAA Gold Medalist Owen Kurvits (16-21, 21-13, 21-11) and carried the momentum into two more victories over Matthew Chan (21-19, 13-21, 21-15) and Connor Reinson (21-11, 21-7).

Olivia Lei, named CCAA Player of the Year last night, easily handled each of her three matches in straight sets and appears to be the favorite in Women's Singles play. The Mixed Doubles Team of Adam Dong and Tracy Wong were the third Hawks team to run the table, sweeping each of their three matches in dominant fashion.

The Men's Doubles (Ryan Chow and Darcy Schmidt) and Women's Doubles (Christina Duong and Michelle Chow) Teams each went 1-2 on Thursday.
