THREE HUMBER BASEBALL PLAYERS REPRESENT CANADA IN EUROPE

ZÜRICH, Switzerland – Three Humber Hawks will be representing Canada this month as they partake in a trip of a lifetime. Brendan Lyons, Keegan Murphy, and Mitch Wilbur have joined North Baseball – Canada's premier travel baseball program.

The team will explore some of Europe's unique culture and heritage; while competing against some of the top baseball talent on the continent.

Their trip begins in Switzerland, where they will compete against the Dominican All-Star team and the Zürich Barracudas. They will then move to Munich, Germany, to play the Buchbinder Legionnaires and Haar Disciples.

On May 18, they will then head to Austria to play Finkstonball, an eight-team tournament featuring clubs from all over the world. This will be the first time the North plays in the tournament and will go head-to-head against the Austrian and Hungarian National teams.

"I think it will be a great experience for them," said Humber Athletic Director Ray Chateau. "It is a unique opportunity for them to see the world, while simultaneously playing high-level baseball. Not all learning is done in the classroom or on the diamond, and this will be a trip they will remember for the rest of their lives."

Brendan Lyons finished the 2017 season for Humber with a 3-0 record and a microscopic earned run average of 1.07 in 19.2 innings of work. Keegan Murphy is Humber's all-time leader in hits (66) and RBI's (55), while Mitch Wilbur led the team in hitting in 2016, finishing the season with a .410 batting average in 44 plate appearances.
