HAWKS CLOSE OUT WEEKEND ON SUNDAY WITH DOUBLEHEADER

ETOBICOKE, Ont: The Humber men's baseball team return home, on Sunday, against the Fanshawe Falcons. The Hawks look to continue to build on their strong play against the Falcons after sweeping Fanshawe in their four games last season. Humber is 7-3 against Fanshawe all-time.

Last time out vs Fanshawe

In their last meeting, Humber looked to secure a play-off spot with a sweep of Fanshawe. Hawks turned to Andrew Blakey, and Blakey pitched into the fifth inning allowing three runs over his 4 1/3 innings of work. Humber's offense was hot, scoring runs in each of the first four innings to put a nine spot up on the board. In the seventh, Head Coach Denny Berni turned to Tyler Greenwood to close out the game. Greenwood secured the win for Humber, and clinched a play-off spot, with a 9-5 victory. The Hawks were led offensively by Keegan Murphy, Mitch Wilbur, Brandon Costa, and Chase Cornelisse each collecting multiple hits. Murphy, Wilbur and Costa collected RBIs along with Andrew Thomson and Matt Stoddart.

Scouting Fanshawe

  • Fanshawe comes into the matchup 4-0 scoring 40 runs and allowing 17 runs in their games against George Brown and Seneca.
  • This season, the Falcons have 13 new players on their 27 man roster
  • Notable returning standouts include: fourth-year SS – Carlos Artaega (.377 AVG, 1 HR, 14 RBIs), third-year IF – Travis Helps (.407 AVG, 1 HR, 15 RBIs), third-year P - Tyler Rymal (28 IP, 3.50 ERA, 2-2 record)

  • Hawks are 4-2 over the past three seasons playing at home against Connervale
  • Humber has averaged 7.8 runs for and allowing 5.4 runs against over their 10 meetings all-time
  • Pitching staff looks to build on their strong start to the season (2.08 ERA over 13 innings)

What's next?

After their matchup with the Falcons, on Wednesday the Hawks are traveling to East York to play an exhibition matchup against Ryerson University. First pitch is slated for 7:30pm.
