ETOBICOKE – In this world, nothing is certain, except for death, taxes and Humber women's volleyball perfect season. The words "perfect season" have become a staple with head coach Chris Wilkins. With No. 4 Humber women's volleyball (18-0, 1st West) sweeping the Mohawk Mountaineers (9-8, 4th West) in three sets (25-18, 25-16, 25-20), Coach Wilkins now has more perfect seasons than seasons with at least one loss, 12-11. Humber now shifts its focus to the postseason, with its crossover matchup set for Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Hawks' Nest.

Despite the historic achievement, the spotlight was on graduating senior Hannah Manners. Pregame, Manners was honoured for her time with Humber. A two-time OCAA champion and 2023 CCAA bronze medalist. The Humber Hawks are grateful for her incredible contributions to the program over the past four years.

Match Recap

No. 4 Humber women's volleyball returned to Etobicoke after a perfect three-game road record. Perfection extended beyond that record, as the Hawks aimed to clinch another perfect season during Coach Wilkins era, which would mark the 12th in his tenure. On the other side, the Mohawk Mountaineers entered as underdogs, struggling with poor momentum. After a strong 8-3 record in the first half of the season, the Mountaineers had lost four of their five matches in 2025. A victory at the Hawks' Nest would be crucial to regaining confidence for the postseason.

Mohawk stuck to their plan, keeping the match competitive as both teams were tied at 6-6. However, the Hawks gained momentum halfway through the set, and senior Hannah Manners landed an unstoppable ace to send the Mountaineers on a timeout with Humber leading 15-10. From that moment on, the Hawks were everywhere on the court. Coach Wilkins' squad controlled the set's tempo and captured it at 25-18.

In the second set, Humber dominated the Mountaineers, not giving them a moment to catch their breath. The Hawks quickly jumped out to a 20-11 lead, with Manners leading the way with an impressive nine kills at that stage of the match. Mohawk struggled to find its rhythm and watched Humber fly. Fourth-year player Sydney Koehler secured the set win with a score of 25-16.

Hoping to avoid a sweep, the Mountaineers came out firing in the third set, taking an early 6-2 lead. However, the Hawks, undeterred, managed to tie the game at 7-7. Then, they took the lead at 9-8 and, despite the initial scare, controlled the rest of the set. As Humber wrapped up the match 25-20, coach Chris Wilkins captured his 12th perfect season. Wilkins now has more perfect seasons than seasons with at least one loss, 11.

Senior player Hannah Manners was named the Player of the Match, recording a game-high 17 points, which included 14 kills, and eight digs.
