Postseason action on tap this weekend for Humber

ETOBICOKE – The postseason is in full swing for Humber Athletics, as all four court sports teams will compete for a provincial title. Action begins February 21, and every game will be streamed live online.


Women's Volleyball

Winners of 14 consecutive OCAA postseason matches, the Hawks have reached the OCAA final four every season since 1996-97. After a close crossover victory against Canadore, the Knights beat Redeemer in the quarter-final and will be looking for their first OCAA podium finish since 2019. No. 3 Humber has not lost a home playoff match since 1999.

A familiar foe stands in the way of Humber's drive for five straight OCAA titles, the Fanshawe Falcons. These two volleyball juggernauts have combined to win the last six OCAA gold medals. No. 3 Humber will head to Sudbury with an 18-match postseason win streak.

After rolling George Brown by 53 points in the crossover round, No. 12 Humber welcomes Loyalist to campus. The Lancers needed a missed free throw from St. Clair to advance to the second round. Humber's quarter-final loss last season snapped its streak of 12 straight final-four appearances.

Top-ranked Humber enters the quarter-final round with a massive bullseye on its back as the defending provincial champions with a perfect record of 19-0. The Wolves crushed Niagara in the crossover round 93-69 and is in pursuit of their first provincial medal since 2014. The Hawks are looking to extend their conference record of provincial titles to 17.
