HAWKS HEAD EAST LOOKING FOR A RETURN TO THE PODIUM

PETERBOROUGH, ON: The Humber Hawks women's soccer team will take to the pitch on the beautiful fields at Fleming College in the 2015 OCAA Provincial Women's Soccer Championships. The event begins on Wednesday night with the Annual Awards Banquet, and then play will kick-off on Thursday morning and run through until the Gold Medal game on Saturday afternoon.

Humber will open their OCAA quest on Thursday afternoon in a tilt with Cambrian College of Sudbury. The Hawks advanced directly to the championships by way of their Central Division crown, while the Golden Shield won a sudden-death cross-over game on the road versus Mohawk.

The winner of this game will advance to the championship semi-finals on Friday at 3:00 pm, and play the winner of the Algonquin/Sheridan game. A loss would propel the Hawks to the consolation semi-final at 9:00 am on Friday morning.

It was the Golden shield that knocked the Hawks off the podium last year, their first miss since the 2005-06 season. Humber had been gold or silver medalists for six consecutive years.

Humber checks in with a Central Division best record of 7-2-1. Cambrian, the second place team from the East Division, entered the play-offs with a very solid record of 8-2-2. Cambrians only losses were to the undefeated Algonquin Thunder.

Based on the final standings, both teams have showed than can both score and defend. Humber checks in with marks of 2.7 goals for and .70 goals against. Cambrian's numbers were very close at 2.9 for and .75 against.

Ashley Osorio led the Hawks and the entire Central Division with 10 goals. Tiffany Johnson of the Golden Shield lit up the East Division, with 18 markers in 12 games.
